Lab Information: This lab will involve a discussion of commonly encountered anesthesia complications, focusing on trouble-shooting problems with the anesthesia machine and monitoring equipment. This lab is geared towards small animal cases, but the principles could be applied to large animal cases.

About Instructor: Lisa Sams Ebner, DVM, MS, DACVAA, CVA is a Professor of Practice of Anesthesiology at Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine in Amarillo, Texas. Her research interests include drug pharmacokinetics in various species, medical student education, acupuncture, and the relationship of wellness in the human-animal bond. She completed her residency training in anesthesia from The Ohio State University in 2011. She is a 2006 graduate of the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. She is also certified in veterinary acupuncture.
Implementing Pain Scale, CRI calculations & Syringe Pump Basics

Lab Information: This lab will provide an overview and discussion of currently available small animal pain scales that can be implemented in general practice. Practical approaches to CRI calculations will be discussed for drugs commonly used in this manner, including helpful apps available. Hands-on practice with setting up and running a syringe pump for those that are new to their use will conclude this lab.
