Food Animal Medicine and Surgery Internship
The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences at Oklahoma State University is offering a one-year rotating internship position in Food Animal Medicine and Surgery. The internship is designed to provide a broadly based clinical experience that will prepare the intern for food animal practice, continue in a Food Animal or Large Animal residency program, or further graduate studies. Our diverse hospital population is influenced by the substantial cow-calf, seed-stock, and commercial producers, and a robust rodeo/bucking bull clientele in Oklahoma. Pet camelid, small ruminant, and pig population also add variety to the case load. Salary: $45,000/yr.
The intern will work closely with faculty clinicians that will provide direct supervision, training, and mentoring. Increasing responsibility and independence is allowed as proficiency in clinical skills and judgment is demonstrated. The intern will assist in the instruction and supervision of veterinary students in clinical rotations and laboratories. Clinical duties will include night, weekend, and holiday emergency duty and inpatient critical care for food animal cases and is shared with up to 2 other house officers. The intern may spend up to 6 clinical weeks to gain additional experience in specialty areas such as ophthalmology, radiology, equine medicine and surgery, neurology, cardiology, and theriogenology. Each week offers rounds, journal club, Morbidity and mortality rounds with all large animal faculty, and house officer seminars including all house officers and clinical faculty. Opportunities for participation in clinical research will be based off available on-going research projects, desire and skill of the intern, and clinical duty requirements..
The intern will provide primary emergency service after hours, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis with up to two other house officers. A senior clinician will always be available as backup either on-site or by phone.
Benefits include annual leave, sick leave, and medical insurance. Annual leave consists of two weeks (10 weekdays) and one week during the Christmas/New Year holidays. Medical insurance begins the first day of the month following your employment date. Depending on the coverage you select, you may be charged a monthly fee for your medical insurance. Professional liability is covered by the Tort Claims Act.

The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences, Oklahoma State University, College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants for a career-track faculty position in veterinary ophthalmology. We have an amazing team that includes a board-certified ophthalmologist, a specialty intern, and two dedicated veterinary technicians, one with a VTS in ophthalmology, both of whom have greater than 5 years’ experience with the ophthalmology service. Duties will include participation in the clinical ophthalmology service in the Boren Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH), and didactic and clinical instruction of veterinary students. You will have the opportunity to participate in collaborative research/scholarship activities if desired. The ophthalmology service sees a diverse caseload and frequently works closely with the well-established Zoological Medicine, Exotics, and Wildlife team. The VMTH has dedicated small and large animal emergency services for receiving for ophthalmology emergencies after hours.
Qualifications include a DVM degree or equivalent and completion of clinical residency training in veterinary ophthalmology. Board certification by the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (ACVO) is preferred. However, those qualified to take the ABVO certification examination are encouraged to apply. Eligibility for faculty licensure in the State of Oklahoma is required.

Residency in Equine Internal Medicine
The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences at Oklahoma State University is offering a residency in Equine Internal Medicine beginning July15, 2025, through July 14, 2028. The three-year program is designed to meet the training requirements for certification by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM). Enrollment in a concurrent MS Degree Program is optional. Initial appointment will be for one year, with yearly renewal for a total of three years, pending satisfactory progress.
During the first two years of training, the resident will be closely supervised by a Diplomate of ACVIM. The degree of responsibility for case management the resident assumes will be determined by case complexity and resident. The resident will be expected to be capable of primary responsibility for most medical patients during the third year of the residency. With approval of the supervising Diplomate, the resident will schedule training time with other specialists to comply with ACVIM residency training guidelines. The resident will be allowed elective time allowing them to gain additional experience in specialty areas that suit their interests. Teaching clinical medicine to veterinary students is an important function of the resident. They will also be responsible for teaching a portion of the equine techniques laboratories. Opportunities for didactic lectures in equine elective courses will be available. The resident will be required to participate in organized research efforts including submitting a manuscript for publication. The resident will have the opportunity to gain experience in grant writing to receive both intra and extramural funding. The opportunity to pursue graduate education during the residency is available and requires admission to the Graduate College at Oklahoma State University. Two regularly scheduled resident seminars per year within the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences are mandatory. The resident will be encouraged to present at local, state, and national meetings as they progress through their program. Each week offers combined food animal/equine journal club and Morbidity and Mortality rounds, and house officer seminars including all house officers and clinical faculty. The case load at Oklahoma State University provides a unique training opportunity. Our diverse hospital population is influenced by the substantial performance horse industry within the state. Smaller populations such as miniature and draft horses add variety to the case load.
Salary is $50,000 per year. Benefits include annual leave, sick leave, and medical insurance. Annual leave consists of two weeks (10 weekdays) and one week during the Christmas/New Year holidays.
