Teaching Hospital Associate Opportunity

We are a Non-Corporate, AAHA accredited, Rural, Small Animal Hospital with the perfect blend of professionalism and playfulness. We are privileged to provide general and emergency care to over 90 US Border Patrol dogs and a team of US Customs Canine agents. As rural practitioners, we are located hours away from emergency services and specialists. Consequently, we have a large number of interesting and rewarding cases. Our hospital’s on-site equipment includes: CT Scanning, ultra-sound, endoscopy, surgical laser, video otoscopes, complete in-house laboratory, and more. We understand that most practitioners are not trained to use all this equipment nor do all the procedures that are routine to our hospital, therefore, we are ready, willing, and able to provide qualified candidates the training and mentorship needed. Because we are recognized as a leader in veterinary medicine, Del Rio Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital has been selected as a teaching hospital for Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine. Practicing this broad range of medicine, with the most advanced medical equipment, makes each day exciting and rewarding. You will be surrounded by a fun, dedicated staff that is highly trained and supportive! Our team also includes highly competent professionals in practice management, finance, and marketing/community service. Working in a well-managed, sophisticated, financially stable environment allows our veterinarians to be well compensated. DVDH’s Pro-Sal compensation also includes a generous PTO policy and pays 100% medical. Professional development is a core value. As such, we have a robust CE allowance which pays 100% travel and registration. We have earned the Chamber of Commerce “Atta Boy” award for our in-house Wags-To-Riches adoption program. DVDH is recognized for our pet therapy program called “Paws on the Patio” and we are consistently voted #1 veterinary hospital by regional publications. We are located in Del Rio, Texas, where Lake Amistad is home to some of the best bass fishing in the nation, there are no such thing as traffic jams, and we pride ourselves in serving the best Tacos in Texas. Practicing at DVDH provides professional development in a community where clients desire the best medicine for their pets.
