Nominations for OVMA Awards Now Being Accepted

For Immediate Release – November 1, 2019 – Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – Each year the Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association (OVMA) honors five individuals and three animals for their outstanding service and dedication to the veterinary profession and the relationship held between humans and animals. This year’s winners will be honored at the conference scheduled for January 23 -25, 2020. Nominations are being accepted from now until November 29.

It is without a doubt that individuals involved in the veterinary community are dedicated and passionate about their field. The OVMA honors those individuals who go above and beyond each year by recognizing them during the Oklahoma Veterinary Conference. This year’s award winners will be announced during Corn-To-Be-Wild, the Friday night student scholarship fundraiser on January 24 at 6:00 pm. Awards are given in the following categories:

  • Veterinarian of the Year
  • Distinguished Service Award
  • OVMA Volunteer of the Year Award
  • Industry Representative Award
  • Young Practitioner of the Year

OVMA membership isn’t required in order to nominate a deserving individual, however, it is preferred. For the official form and a complete description of each award category, please click here.

Celebrating the link between animals and people each year the OVMA inducts one animal each year into the Animal Hall of Fame under the following categories:

  • Hero: Animals who have saved or preserved human life
  • Companion: Animals who have provided a benefit to their human companions or their community
  • Professional: Animals especially trained to assist humans

Nominations must be submitted by an OVMA member and must include the official form with the animal’s owner/caretaker’s signature. The Animal Hall of Fame Inductees will be recognized on Saturday, January 25 during the Membership & Awards Breakfast held during the Oklahoma Veterinary Conference in Norman, OK.
